There’s a tree outside my window. I can look out and see it. It’s there. Directly between me and the tree, there is about 150 feet in distance. There is also a glass window, a screen and some power lines, between us, but I can still see it. It’s there. For me to get to the tree, I’d have to get off my bed, walk out my bedroom door, go down the stairs, walk out the front door of my house, go down some steps, cross the street, walk about 30 feet, and I could touch it. It’s there.
God is like the tree. I can see him. He’s there. Directly between me and God, there are circumstances, there are screw-ups, and there is sin. But I can still see him. He’s there. For me to get to God, I’d have to humble myself, confess my shortcomings, admit I need a Saviour, accept the gift of his Son, and I could reach out and touch him. He’s there.
The difference between God and the tree, is that you don’t have to do anything to reach God. He already sent his son to die on the cross, to get to you. You just have to receive that gift.
God is never too far away and you are never too far gone for God. There may be obstacles in the way, there may be Giants, but God is also Almighty and all-powerful, and he can break through circumstances to reach you. You just have to be willing, because He is able.
Awesome!
