You Keep (Short Poem)

You keep stringing me along;
You keep me hanging on to a wish that will never come true.
You keep stringing me along;
In the hopes that some day I’ll be forever with you.

If words could stop the heart that yearns;
Maybe this heart would learn.
If lies could stop this brain from wanting;
Maybe these memories would stop the haunting.

But you keep stringing me along;
You keep me coming back for more.
You keep stringing me along;
This time I’m locking the door.
