Seclusion & Christianity.

This is something that has been on my heart lately, and I really need to get it off my chest. Some people may disagree, and that’s fine, but it’s just something that bothers me. Before I jump into this, I want to make very clear, that I believe that it is very necessary to have alone time with God on a regular basis. That is the fuel that gets us closer to God, but also it gets us through life. My alone time, besides reading scripture, is also spent talking to him while I’m at work. It’s the easiest time for me to connect with him. So I do believe that time alone with God is necessary.

There are schools, I won’t mention names, that are there to help Christians in their walk, before facing the “real world”. I have friends at one in particular. They are helped in their spiritual life, but are also taught a bunch of different classes as well. It’s an amazing concept, but I have a few problems with this. They live on campus, and are pretty much cut off from the world; which can be a good thing, and a bad thing. Because of that, the only friends they really have are the friends they live with. Also, they are cut off from all contact with the opposite sex, to focus more on God, and less on girls/boys. All of these things are awesome ideas, but what good is it to stay cooped up inside when there is a whole world dying from hunger, and sickness, and crazy radical religious groups. I mean it’s amazing to spend time in seclusion with God, but when you are cutting yourself off from the world; that you are suppose to be preaching to, what good is it? If you are a true Christ-Follower then you need to know for sure, that you’ll have plenty of time to spend with God, in a different realm, but on this one people are dying everyday without knowing Jesus.

I had a really close friend, one of my best friends that is at one of these schools, and I haven’t been able to talk to her in a year. I’ve wanted to share so much with her, and haven’t been able to. She has cut her self off from me completely, and it kind of feels (to me) more like a cult, than a Christian school.

If you go to a christian school in general, I’m not picking on you. I think Bible Colleges and Universities are great. It’s just how some of these “Christian” schools seem to be around for more of a monetary purpose, then a bible instruction purpose. The bible makes very clear to be careful with the paths you choose, because some look nice, but lead to destruction.

I just wanted to share my thoughts. No disrespect intended, just love and concern.
