Tuesday night, we had dinner, then a little bit of a free time, in which I took a short, but much needed nap. At 8:30 we headed over to a room where we met, and talked about our day. It was such a blessing to see how God worked in everyone, and through everyone despite doing different tasks.
That morning we got up, and ready, and headed over to the cafeteria to eat breakfast; and get our daily assignments. We took our group picture, then had some fun with some of the groups doing lawn care, before they started working. They did a lot today. So proud of those guys.
My group was asigned “Site Clean Up”, which pretty much meant we had to clean up the messes that groups before us had left. Such as, picking up supplies (ladders, painting equipment, ect), and cleaning paint off of porches and stairs that had accidentally dripped down.
We then came back and ate, rested a few minutes, then were sent back to Harvest Hope to do some different work from Monday. We had to sort through cans. First we had to check the expiration date; and if the date was good, dump them into a huge bin, if not, throw them away. After we had all the good cans, we had to sort the remaining cans, and put them into boxes based on if they were fruits, veggies, or protein. We were there for about 3 and a half hours. We got a lot done.
We got back, ate supper, then took the kids to downtown Greenville, as a reward for all of their hard work. Downtown was pretty simple. A group of boys decided they wanted to hang out with me, since I’m the “cool leader” and all. We just watched a couple of them act up, and make fools of themselves, while we just laughed. We went over to the park and took some pictures and waited for the other groups.
We got back to the Headquarters, had a quick meeting, and headed to bed.
Wednessday morning, my alarm didn’t go off, so I woke up 45 minutes later then I had planned. But I cleaned my room, took a shower, packed, and still beat all of the kids out to the van to put my bag in the trailer. We ate breakfast, then finished cleaning the dorms. As we were waiting to leave, we broke out the footballs, and basketballs and had a little bit of fun.
At 9:30 we left Greenville, and headed to Columbia, where we ate lunch. As we arrived in Columbia, a trailer tire blew, as we settled in the mall, we had to change the tire. Thank God we had Russel with us to hold the trailer up so we didn’t have to use a jack.
After an hour in Columbia, we headed home. We got back at 2:00pm all safe and sound.
God really blessed us on This Mission Trip. I have only told you a few stories, but there are so many other amazing stories of things that happened. I will try to get a video of some testimonials soon. You guys need to hear the things God did. Thank you to everyone who prayed for up. We know that you guys had a lot to do with the reason why everything went well.
