I know that you clicked on the link, either very reluctantly, or very mad. That’s good. That’s what I was hoping for. We as a society are very selfish, but at the same time we are quick to blame and deligate responsibilities. Since you were young you have probably heard the phrase “Jesus Saves”. The more and more I pray about it, the bigger the burden that has been on my heart about those two little words used together.
In today’s world we like to preach that Jesus can save you from this addiction, or save you from that sin. I believe that Jesus already did his part when he died on the cross 2000 years ago. John 3 :17 states “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” God sent his son, Jesus to save the world. When he came to this earth, he died for our sins. He saved the world. But remember, the world is full of greedy and selfish sinners. We like to say “well Jesus died for me, so I must be saved, right?” If we flip over to Romans 10:9, we see that there is another part to this equation. It says: “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” I really want you to focus on this part with me. Let’s examine this verse backwards. It states that there is a way for us to be saved from our sins, thank God. How do we recieve this pardon from God? We are to Confess and Believe, that is how we are saved. I confess with MY mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in MY heart that God raised him from the dead, therefore I am saved.
God gave us the most beautiful gift when he sent his son to die on the cross. He gave us the Gift of eternal life.“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). He loved us so much that he sent his son to us, and he gave us free will to choose if we want that gift. He paid the cost for us to live eternally, all he wants in return, is for us to live with him forever. All it takes, is for us to give our lives to him, He already gave his life for us.
Jesus Saved. Don’t let his sacrifice go to waste.
